Claude Cowork

Claude Cowork brings Claude Code's agentic power to a desktop app anyone can use. Point it at a folder, describe what you want, and it works autonomously — reading, editing, and creating files without you coordinating each step. No terminal required.

Best for

Best for marketers who want Claude to work autonomously on their files — drafting reports, organizing research, processing data — without touching a terminal or writing any code.

1

Download the Claude Desktop app

Go to claude.com/download and download Claude for Mac or Windows. Install it like any app. You'll need a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise subscription.

2

Switch to Cowork mode

Open Claude Desktop. At the top you'll see tabs — Chat, Cowork, and Code. Click "Cowork" to switch to Tasks mode.

3

Give Claude access to a folder

Click the checkbox to give Claude access to a folder on your computer — a campaign folder, your downloads, a project directory. Claude can then read and create files there.

4

Add the skill to your folder instructions

In Cowork, go to Settings → Cowork → Edit folder instructions. Paste the skill content there. Claude will read it automatically at the start of every Cowork session in that folder.

Settings → Cowork → Folder instructions → paste skill content
5

Describe your task and let Claude work

Type what you want done — "Run an SEO audit on the pages in this folder" or "Write a media pitch for the product brief in here." Claude makes a plan and executes it autonomously, looping you in when it needs direction.

Cowork is in research preview. Available on paid Claude plans via the Desktop app for Mac and Windows. The Desktop app must stay open while Claude is working.
